'Next Level' - Official Release - May 13, 2023
Signal for Pilot's just released album, 'Next Level' is the culmination of over a decade of writing and performing, and passionately crafting the band's ever-evolving 'Stadium Indie' sound while working tirelessly to take their music to the next level!
Like the albums of yesteryear, 'Next Level' is meant to be listened to start-to-finish with each song and its track placement telling a linear story of actualization, of rebirth, and renewal.
That story starts with a band or person that has been stuck in a rut and recognizes the need to get that 'Feelin' Again.' The heavy low-end drums by SFP Founder, Chris 'Jaws' Ruzika sets the stage with a building momentum while lead singer Chase Menary plaintively cries out for the hope of getting back that feeling of vitality and verve. From there the story tells of getting back out there, 'Taking a Chance' and in the album's third track, 'Second Star,' of wishing and dreaming of making the 'life I want.' The story then turns to thoughts of the legacy we leave behind and of setting aside youthful behaviors in pursuit of more meaningful art and lasting expression in 'Upload' and 'Midnite Drive.' The protagonist in our story keeps staring up at the 'Skylite' window, wrestling with their demons and the sensation of going backwards while on this journey towards improvement. The struggle produces meaningful and lasting changes however, and soon our narrator realizes success as highlighted in the hit singles, 'Champions' and 'Game-Changer.' But in the end, there is a final step to making it to the titular track and ultimate destination of reaching the 'Next Level,' and that is standing up not just for oneself, but also for others as epitomized by the second to last song on the album, 'Speak Up.' SFP proudly invites you to listen to this ultimate expression of overcoming challenges, growing, and improving both as individuals and as a whole. The album was produced by the legendary Joey Bradford ('The Used') at Vibeatorium Studios in Vista, CA and collectively written and performed by Signal for Pilot band members: Chris Ruzikia (Drums), Johnny Bernard (Guitar), Hugo De Bernardo (Keyboard), John Cruess (Bass) and featuring a special guest vocal performance by AJ Perdomo from 'The Dangerous Summer.'
Please don't forget to add 'Next Level' to your favorites on Spotify and Apple Music, and please take a moment to share the album on your social media and with friends and families!
SFP is endlessly grateful for all the love and support from fans both near and far, and the guys can't wait to have you join them on their journey as they continue to level-up on their way to becoming one of America's hottest Alternative/Indie bands! Thanks for listening!

- About the Song with Lead Guitarist, Johnny Bernard -
"Out in Hawaii in the Summer of 2017, we were just starting to get reformulate the band, with Patrick Otterson, Chris Jaws, Patrick Flanagan and myself [Johnny Bernard]. Patrick started messing around with a chord progression on guitar, then Otterson made a synth loop in the key of the progression. We started really jamming out! The energy kept building and we all at the same time basically started to yell 'Whoa whoa whoa' (pretty sure Otterson actually started it) and Patrick Flanagan out of no where started singing 'Get that feelin again, feelin again.' We all loved it!"
"We recorded a scratch track version on my phone that day, and I wrote the original lyrics on the bus ride to the studio house down in Honolulu ahead of the next rehearsal. I thought I 'had it' singing it one way in my head, but when I handed Flanagan the lyric sheet, and he started to sing it his way, it really created itself and became this full-throttle, in-your-face song about getting up." The band was looking to create an opening song for their set list, and they were certain they found it with 'Feelin' Again.' Johnny continues, "It's a song to bring you back to whatever feeling you are trying to get back to, that you may have lost. In our case it was about finding our musical groove again - both together and as individuals. For others, it may be about getting out of a lost love situation, or getting out of depression, or whatever the listener might be going through at that time."
"After moving from Hawaii to San Diego, we linked up with our new lead singer Chase Manary, and when he came in, he completely demolished it! His rendition added even more verve to this already powerful song, including a new second verse he wrote that makes the song even more electric! Then, when we brought the song to legendary Producer Joey Bradford, he took it and made it his baby for the day and completely changed the way it sounded from a fun-fueled intro to a 'take you to church service for getting your f**ckin a** back up to where you know you can be!"
"We all had a hand in writing the lyrics including Joey and Chris, and we all had our part in writing the arrangement, so ultimately it came down to a song written by Signal For Pilot that then got expertly produced by Joey. And now, we have that 'Feelin Again'."
Johnny wrapped up the interview by sharing this really touching insight with us: "My mom listens to it everyday, and she's battling cancer, trying to get her feeling again. It means way more then just getting back into music, its a song for people to scream and yell if their team is down, if their heart is broken or if they are climbing out from a rut. It is all about getting that special Feelin Again! We all can make it back, we just need each other."
